My Final Bloggah!

This is my last blog before the exams start. Which basically means yeah, no more blogging till next-next week. Everything kinda depends on this final exam, doesn't it?

I haven't been doing too well in terms of studies and revision, and my Term 3 Report Book results have been anything but decent (Who likes an overall C6-C5 score?) so this is my only chance to redeem myself and get into IB. It's worse on some others, I know, but to me I've done so badly in my T3 I'm really scared I'll get kicked out of IB (More than some of you at least.) It's down to these last days, I suppose, before the feather is thrown up, slowly descending to the floor while the fight goes on. (If you didn't get that *100% of you*, that's a reference to Rave Bk 16/17 where Haru first fights Doryu and gets thrashed before the feather lands.)

I dunno, but I still haven't grasped one or two concepts. It kinda worries me >_> that and my Algebra still isn't too good (Though I must admit I've improved significantly from when I started this year), but I think I can handle it somewhat. I still hate drawing quadratic graphs, but well, that's 'cause my drawing stinks >_>

For English I think I can handle writing, but comprehension, XD compre = instant phail >_>

Lit. LOL. Fission Mail'd >_> I die at writing, I mean, HOW THE HECK DO YOU WRITE 3 SIDES IN SUCH A SHORT TIME GID?! >_>

Geog and Hist I think I can handle it, no A1 or whatever but at least I can get a B4/B3.

Lsc. Umm, good luck to me? I need to get 60+ to get a B4. >_<

Art. Should do decent. B4-B3. >_>

Psc. If I can remember all the values correctly I should have no problem. Possible A1 I guess.

HCL. Good luck to me >_>

Jap. Aah, should be able to do it just fine.

Well, seems like that's what's going to happen to me. Doesn't look too bright, does it? Haha, maybe that's my fate. Who knows? Maybe I may get kicked out after all.

-------------------------------------------------

Zhang's been through his angst-phase and been over with it. Now it's Kev's turn. I helped Kev a bit, I suppose, and I think he's better now. I guess everyone's been cheering him up someway or another. But anyway.

Guess who's next? Who knows? Maybe it's me. >_> The stress is beginning to get to me, I may actually become angsty after such a long time. >_> Let's hope I don't reach that phase, eh?

-----------------------------------------------

Kev told me yesterday that usually people use 'what' or 'thing' or some other immensely generalized word when speaking of stuff they are not capable of immediately associating a word to, so the brain just uses 'what' or 'thing' to make up for that so as not to compromise speed. Well, guess I'm wrong about that one.

Trivialisation

*I suddenly realize it's a very good thing you can't see my titles, since some of them are completely irrelevant to my blogpost XD*

Some time ago: (Not in exact words, perhaps not in exact statements either. The gist is there though."

"Zhang, how'd you feel about IYE?"
"I felt damn sad."
"..."
"But I'm sure you felt worse because of that thing (I remember quite clearly he said 'thing'."

Quite sad, isn't it? Trivialisation.

Since when, have in our entire lives, have our feelings been trivialised, bastardized, distorted into THINGS? Has an exposure of one's feelings towards the outside world via the blogosphere resulted in everyone taking things so important such as feelings as for granted?

The blogosphere has in a sense became a voice for the people that cannot have their own opinions in real life. Also, it's become a vent of feelings for the people who cannot express them in real life.

Look at what that's got us.

Imagine this conversation between two people (Context being the past)

"...I feel so damn depressed, Herr."
"Yeah, I know, I read on your website."

That would've been an alien conversation in the past. Now? Replace 'website' with 'blog' and suddenly it doesn't seem weird in the least bit.

Feelings, in the past, have been considered precious and important to us. People treated them with quite a level of respect, but why? Because back then, you needed to be friends with someone before you actually could get 'access' to his feelings, and the best of friends knew exactly how the other felt at that point of time. What about now?

The blog, while giving us a 'shortcut' to voicing our opinions and expressing our feelings, has also inversely given EVERYONE else a shortcut to knowing your opinions and understanding your feelings.

When people have such ready access to material things, they generally take it for granted. Also, when people have such abundance of immaterial things, they also generally take it for granted (Use faith as an example. Look at all those Christians out there who can say clearly that they will go to Heaven. How clear IS it that this is so? Perhaps this is not too good an example, but I'm sure you readers can consider a few others.)

Now, with the blogosphere's easy accessibility, one's feelings has become one of those immaterial things taken for granted. Now feelings are some sort of everyday thing. Unrespected for and eventually trivialised. Sad, isn't it?

I suppose, this is the result of exposing your feelings on the blog, just like those who got arrested for exposing their opinions on their blogs.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Nevermind, onto something more towards us, and less generalized.

More recently (On Kev Low):

KW: But I never thought of it that way, that people liked him only for his humour?
Me: The 'having people liking me for my humour, and not for who I am', is pure paranoia, that's why you've never thought of it that way.
Me: If you don't believe it's paranoia, ask Jun Yi. >_>
KW: Hmm, but who he is _is_ humour...
KW: To an extent, isn't it...?

Wow, first the reduction of feelings to things, now the reduction of humans into things. But that's not my main concern. >_>

Y'know, maybe the reason why Kevin Low has the opinion that people like him because of his sense of humour and not because of whom he is,

is kinda because you've given him that opinion?

Everyone can go on about how they treat their friends as true friends and not as mere entities subject to their manipulation, but geez, prove it by things apart from words, dangit! *That said, conversation technically counts as something more of an action than words XD*

Haiz. Go ahead. But if you only talk about all of his qualities, and not just humour, when he's sad that you only view him in terms of humour, chances are that you'll revert back to viewing him only in terms of humour once he's fine again, and this will repeat. Ad Nauseum, ne?

Blogging, itself.

Haha, I just really rarely seem to blog these days, do I. >_> Heh, sorry, considering that I get like almost 20 (non-unique, dang sitemeter limitations >_>) visits a day. >_> Oh well, sorry people XD

I've been looking at all our blogs recently. Has anyone noticed how much they've changed since last year (Or the start of this year, for people like Kev.) My blog started one day after my birthday, 1st Aug. Back then, the only people with blogs/LJs were Gid, Zhang, Mike, Eka, Jun Yi and maybe one or two others I don't remember. Take a look back through the archives. Gid's, Zhang's, Mike's, Jun Yi's, Kev's, Mine. Ever notice how much difference there is in content from the past year till now? Notice the huge difference in style? (Maybe not mine, I seemed to be rather long-winded since my blog's creation XD) People change over time, their thoughts change over time, their actions change over time, but all of that can only be kept as memories. The only thing material that they have, always changing over time as well, are their blogs.

Their layouts can change, their sitemeters reset, their links removed, their audience grown and departed, but what they have written, what their thoughts were, their chronicles, their feelings, that shall never change (Unless blogspot servers get shutdown and blogging goes out of business, >_>).

Blogs are like diaries, but also vastly different in ways as well. To some, it is a realm for one to speak their thoughts and feelings. To others, it is a congregation of gossip on the latest cool thing, the cute guy at the other end of the corridor or side of the road, the hot girl down the line of shops at Plaza Sing, or more. To another group, it is an area to venture, a cyberworld where you may do whatever you wish. And to another, it is a spotlight, a glamourous shine upon you, where all know the public you, the you that you always wanted to have the attention of all. To yet another group (A rather large one at that), it's lyrics heaven. >_> But to few, it is a treasured area, an inner circle, where few enter. It is a realm of discussion, of understanding, and ironically of peace in conflict.

The purpose of a blog has never been clear-cut, since after all it's your blog, not others. But I kinda wonder. Is it your blog if you only blog about what others want to see? No, right? That's a blog they want to see from you, ne?

A blog, to me, is similar to one's mark on the Cyberworld. Albeit a small one as compared to the mark made by those in popular forums. But a blog is different from other 'marks' in such a world. A blog has feelings. Hate, love, joy, indifference, ANGST >_<, and so on. It has your thoughts, and even at times your sublime messages.

Even if your feelings change, your blog is still there, is it not? The blog is something you created. It's an obligation of yours to continue it after it is created, right? Look now, and look back. This is what you've been writing all this time. Are you pleased with it? Do you look back with nostalgia, with hate, or with more angst?

Xi Min wrote this on his nick last time: Don't make a blog. It turns fools into angsty fools.

Does a person define a blog, or does a blog define a person? Some argue the former, some argue the latter. But truth is, both do, right? It's stupid to find out which affects which more.

Just as true, is that both change each other in various ways. Much like a pet, a friend or a hobby, no?

Ironic, isn't it? A person changes the blog, but over the course of time, the blog changes the person. And different kinds of blog resuts in different changes in the person (Angsty blogs for example can make a person feel better or worse). However, it's wrong to say that therefore a person is changing himself by force of will. Why? Because the reason why a blog can change a person is because the blog is not controlled by the person alone. That's the power of comments.

Amazing, isn't it? Just by commenting on another person's blog, you can change his perspectives on things, and make him change his mind and such. Be it flaming, enlightening, or even a simple "Hi, nice blog", a "Hey, cheer up, k?", a "Thanks." or even a "Hiya.", it still manages to change a person in such a way. Words are amazing, aren't they. Just a 'Hey', and the blogger is instantly proven that his blogs have not been in vain. People still remember him. He is not just a nobody blogging about himself in vain, for it wail not be seen by others. It makes his day, doesn't it? In ways the Sitemeter which says 20 visits a day cannot.

A blog is indeed quite an amazing thing, isn't it. Just like every other thing associated to a person: His friends, his pets, his hobbies, his sports, his games, his behaviour, his habits. Guess what? Now there's his blog. =)
